I was in the Dollar Store the other day, trying to grab a few things that we needed at home. Resolutely determined to hurry (for the sake of Ethan, out in the car) I was whisking efficiently through the aisles for only what was on my list -- and I saw them; a package of curlers in the shampoo aisle. My memory jogged back to long ago Saturday nights when Mom would roll our hair onto a thousand little foam rollers and snap them into place.
I had to try it.
Haven is a busy little thing who doesn't much appreciate being still for Mama's big ideas. I plopped her onto the changing table where she would have nowhere to run, hastily wrapping the little brown strands around and around...
She found amusement in taking half a package of wet wipes out of the container while I worked.
There's nothing quite as exciting as getting all dressed up for something special. It's still one of life's little happinesses for me. Now that I'm grown up (more or less) I just love seeing Haven get excited about a little dress or pair of shoes. Her love for what's pretty is completely innocent - she doesn't have a clue what an insecurity is, or who's the prettiest, or even what matches. Such sweet simplicity.
I had to smile when I finished. Couldn't believe how much she looked like my two year old baby pictures. I tried to snap a quick picture before it was all for naught, but it's hard to catch more than a blur on the screen with this child. She's either dancing, or clapping, or running. "Still" isn't a thing with her.
One more picture, because I can't resist...
Ps. She really doesn't have crossed eyes...not sure how that happened...
