And Then There Were Three... (Week 8)

Yes, it's true! in case you haven't yet seen the posts on facebook and instagram. I get to be a Momma!!!! I have been charged, on pain of death, to post the baby's progress, since Mom and my sisters can't see me every week. Since I'd really rather not perish over writing (or not) a blog post, I've confiscated my Mother-in-law's laptop while I wait for my laundry to finish washing.

Behold! Thine Blog Post!

Week:8
12/31/15

Cravings:

I'm pretty sure this tiny child is a boy. He takes after his father where it comes to food. See, I've always been a health-minded person (always, as in...the last three years, or so) staying away from sugar, and flour, and many other tasty treats for the sake of health and fitness. When I suddenly realized, one queazy morning, that the only things that sounded okay - no, actually... "I NEED THEM! RIGHT NOW! TODAY! THIS VERY MOMENT!" were all things that archly disagreed with my healthy norm.

Like ice cream.

And Kraft (and only Kraft) macaroni and cheese.

And...well...kinda like...Olive Garden Fettuccine Alfredo.

Also, I am quite capable of polishing off an entire jar of pickles in two days. By myself.

To me, the above information is very, very sad. Now it is an incredible struggle to remain faithful on my healthy course. I try not to allow these necessities to overtake me, and do my best to only splurge on Sundays. (Actually...Ethan, if you happen to be reading this, we have giftcards for Olive Garden that maaaaaaybeeeeee need to be used this week....riiiiight? Dearest? Sweetie-pie? Just a thought.)

Nobody saw that.

Workouts: To off-set these weekly issues, I do a simple 30-minute work-out everyday. It is painfully simple. (More painful than simple if you get to complicated with the stretching. Take my word for it; there is no need to do plow while you're pregnant. Coming out of it will nearly take your breath.) It's mostly cardio (brisk walking, running up and down my stairs 30 times, a random exercise or two - just for fun, and then ten glorious minutes of stretching. I love to stretch outside on my porch ... but I'm always afraid that my sister-in-law, who lives across the road from me, will look out her window and decide that: (1) I have gone crazy, or (2) I've fallen and need an ambulance.

Supposedly exercise makes labor go more smoothly...? Well then! By all means...

The Baby; The Bump:

I hate that people on pre-natal websites are always comparing precious, tiny babies to fruits and vegetables. "Guess what guys! Our child now resembles a rutabaga!" But, for what it's worth, in week 7 (the last time I checked, at the time of this writing).... Baby Pritchard is the size of a blueberry.

It kills me to say that.

Me? Oh. If I have any bump to speak of, it's due to the baby's tastes. (Not mine.)

Morning Sickness:

Around week six, it felt as though I had caught the flu. Everything smelled terrible. Supper, the hand soap, body wash, especially chicken soup, the garbage can - everything. This went on for a few days. Finally, Ethan and I were on the way to church when he looked over at me. "You know, hon, you don't have to deal with this." And I realized he was right.

"By his stripes we are healed."

So we prayed about it, and I've been fine since then. I am SO grateful.

Other Stuff:

We get to find out if it's a girl of a boy in....well...it's still forever away. But, what's a cool "gender reveal" idea that suits your fancy? I've had one since before we knew were were expecting, but it's always fun to see what you all come up with:)
And if you have any ideas on how to make time go faster....

;)

Congratulations Anna! Hope all continues to go well for you through these nine months. Since you're staying active (something a lot of pregnant ladies somehow get the idea they should not do!)I suspect that you will have a fairly easy time! Good for you!
