Hair Policy.

This afternoon Becca was getting ready for her piano lesson. Quickly, I pulled her hair up into a high ponytail and called it done.

She turned to me with big, startled eyes.

"Did you do a part?" It was an alarmed demand.

"Um, no...I thought it would look cute without one."

"Anna, my hair doesn't look good without a part, at least, I don't think so, could you re-do it?

See, I have this hair policy -" and she began to explain it to me.

Laughing inwardly, I turned her around and re-styled her ponytail. I was the same way when I was little. In fact, I'm the same way now.

There's something in every girl that wants to be beautiful and is horrified when circumstances render her to be {what she feels is} less than that.

Feeling cute is what drives us to shop for hours, try on half the closet before going out, fiddle around with different hairstyles, and, when we think we've failed, feel absolutely hideous. Somehow, it takes away from the day - no matter how wonderful it is, if you know the cardigan you threw on before flying out the door makes you look like an oversized snowman. Period.

That can't be helped. But I find that there's something else that can ruin your whole day, too. A beautiful spirit is hard to maintain if you don't take the time to freshen up your peace, or fail to refill your Charity. It gets hard to give of yourself, if your own stores are on empty. In all the busyness of my day, if I don't set aside half an hour to read my Bible and pray, I just feel wilted.

It doesn't take much - just 30 minutes set-aside for God. But it can change the whole outcome of the day. It's a time to rest, shake off the heavy burdens and be reminded of God's promises.

"The name of the Lord is a strong tower. The righteous runneth into it and is safe."

Hair policy. ;) I had the same problem.
(AND OVERSIZED CARDIGANS -- I confess!!! Except. Usually, I'm too lazy to run upstairs and change. Oversized snowmen unite!)

I was just like that about my hair when I was little, so I can relate. Sweet picture.

And yes, it is so true. Something is missing if we are so worried about our outward beauty and we do not take the time to freshen up our hearts...giving God time to make us beautiful for the day.

Thank you for this.
