Lord

Sometimes we get little reminders - glimpses, maybe? of how big God is. I have them when I feel God's presence in my devotions, when He tells me something, when I'm reminded that He's the One who parted the Red Sea, the One who created heaven and earth, the One who made people and animals and rivers and oceans...

Those times tend to bring  a startled realization of, "Oh Lord, how great thou art!" and I  feel a slight tinge of embarrassment for how I've been thinking about life.

We get too wrapped up in our tiny corner of the universe - falling apart because we "can't find the hair-gel" before we leave for church, or are wondering "how on earth" this situation is going to work out - "because there's no possible way" - and what about that predicament?

I will give us some credit - sometimes the situations aren't as small as not being able to find the hair-gel...sometimes they're completely deep, dark and impossible and there really isn't any way to climb over the walls we're facing.

When we encounter these troubles Christians (usually) remember to drop on their knees and commit the thing(s) in question to God, right there. After that, we know it's God's turn - to lead and direct, to straighten and heal, to comfort and change the problems...but we want all that right now.

I think a lot of times, we're all too ready to welcome God on the scene "Father, please make it better, I can't take this anymore, I'm hurting and tired, give me peace." BUT we don't realize that God is the Lord.

A Lord is someone who rules - is in charge. We want Him to fix our problems, and -  after an amazing time of prayer, wherein we truly have felt God's presence,  have cast our burdens on Him and our faith is strong - we rest assured that He's in control and will work it all out for our good.

But the Lord has a plan - Like He did when He took Moses to the edge of the Red Sea (with no way out, deep waters, men with death in mind coming closer), like He did when the Three Hebrew Children took the last step into the fiery furnace (to certain death and, furthermore, humiliation before everyone that looked on), like He did when He told Philip to go out into the desert and leave the mighty revival that was going on where he was (which made absolutely no sense).

But the beauty of the praise, the joy of victory, the happiness that can't quite be expressed when God comes on the scene. Standing in awe, we finally realize why He let "such-and-such" go on for so long and why "this" needed to be the way it was. Miriam danced on the banks of the sea, Moses sang in the Spirit. God came down for the three Hebrew children and the whole nation was made to serve Him alone. Philip was taken to the desert because a precious soul was to be saved there - but he didn't know it. They didn't know it.

It's a beautiful, love-inspiring life that we're blessed with. Think of it! We're included in this - walking "one step at a time", just like they did, trusting in His leadership and letting Him be Lord, like they did - Like Jesus, himself did.

Waiting helps to remind us Who's we are, in my mind - just like the struggles and temptations that come in so many ways.

A song comes to mind:

"I know that I can make it, I know that I can stand.
"No matter what may come my way, my life is in Your hand."

He gives peace - He doesn't ask you to have patience on your own. He gives strength and,( hold this truth in all circumstances;) no matter how long you have to wait, no matter how confusing the situation is, no matter how much it looks and feels like God has failed and victory will never come - God does not lie. He would bankcrupt heaven before letting one of His promises fail.

                                                                     Isaiah 30:18 |
"And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the Lord is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him."
