Learning to *Drive* - A Tale of Sistership and Ridiculousness

It all started with Mom passing me on the way out the door with the words "Be careful," said warningly. I didn't know what she was talking about - but it was soon explained. Kara, dear sister that she is, had asked Mom if I might have an excellent experience - one involving a "Gator" (Gas powered, four-wheeled, backupping, slow-going, piece of farm equipment). Kara, (a particularly thrilled 12 year old who loves to drive motorized vehicles) and Myself (A girl who also loves to drive motorized vehicles but is probably not as thrilled as Kara and views the escapade only as driving experience for the most part.)

To make a long story shorter (and more interesting - though I have no pictures) we'll skip ahead about half an hour to where yours truly was trying to figure out how the "Gator" worked. I couldn't find any gears, but there was a metal thing that looked like a gear shift sticking out of one of the slots. "N" for neutral and some weird looking contraption that seemed to be pointing backward, and another weird looking contraption that seemed to be pointing in the "forward" direction.

Kara, all excited and practically jumping up and down in her seat said, "You should probably turn it on first."

I did, and jerkily we backed around the finer and more regular looking vehicles in the driveway (namely our van, our friend's truck, etc.) Next we had to make it through the lane, in which the cousins were playing - thus....

*skip*

Soon we were barrelling *at a very low speed* down a twisting hill, through a scary looking piece of woods and past a haunted looking barn. Kara was shrieking songs in a vibrato that sounded rather ghostly in the twilight - and then ..

Me: " Look, there's a deer." *As the said deer walks slowly into our path - at least 75 feet away.

Kara: *screaming and shrieking in a more realistic fashion whilst diving behind my back and clinging to my shoulders* "Where? I don't see it. Oh, Anna I don't like deer. Deer are scary. Where did it go? Slow down! - You don't want to hit it!"

*skip*

There were quite a few of these interesting experiences - including when Kara drove.

*Gator flying down the path with amazing speed (not really, gator's don't go very fast)* Kara is grinning and spitting out the gnats blown into her mouth while I squintingly keep an eye out for deer...

Me *going nuts* : Keep your foot on the brake!

Kara: You're not actually supposed to do that.

*Driving up the hill....stopping in the middle of the hill because Kara couldn't hear what I was saying...  *rolling down the hill....
*Anna yelling "Use the brake!" and stomping on it...
*Kara smiling mischievously...

lol:) Perhaps this isn't very interesting - but I needed to post something and last night was a lot of fun and I thought you might like it...

*Told ya I *love* run-on-sentences.* :D

LOL! This was so funny, Anna! I've ridden a Gator before, but have never attempted to drive one. (And, knowing me, I don't think I should try). ;)
