Through Different Eyes

When I was little, before I became a Christian, I cared for myself first and foremost. Whatever I wanted (not necessarily what was actually best) was what I fought to gain - at many costs.

I am a strongwilled person - and thus, was then too. With the strongwilled sort of people there is a definite decision that must be made, and after the decision is made, they stick with the decision with all of their heart (which is not necessarily good in some cases....Momma says that I went through the "terrible teens" when I was at my "terrible twos.")

Through the years God dealt with my heart and I became a Christian. It wasn't much longer before the "myself" began to slip out of gaze a little, and "God's will" began to take it's place. I found that the Bible is the guidebook for life, since it's written by the "Inside Teacher" that guides us everyday, as well as a source of encouragement and correction. Reading and memorizing it brings a new look at life, and gives me hope.

Yes, God has been dealing with me, but I'm still not perfect - my old selfishness had a deep root, and tries to spring back up from time to time. But, as time goes on and God continues His work in me, I'm learning to lay aside myself more and more, and look through His eyes.

What do you see?
