A New Look

The other day I was called away from my long-awaited computer time in order to play a game of "Carmen Sandiego" with my three siblings. Almost needless to day, I was far from pleased - in fact, I was rather grumpy. (Dreadful, isn't it?)

As I methodically positioned my game peice and hoped that I wouldn't be in charge of reading the question cards, I was totally focused on myself, "Let's get this overwith so I can go finish my computer time!" However, as the game progressed I began to open my mental eyes, for a good look at my siblings.

Soon, I re-discovered their unique personalities and physical qualities, and remembered what a special band of kids we were, together. We are all quite a bit different from each other, Kara is fast and agile, I am slow, methodical and thourogh, Isaac is an avid boy, full of adventure, Becca is bright cheery and extremely verbal.  While our differences sometimes flare up into a disagreement of some sort, when running smoothly we make a great team.

Siblings are kind of like pieces of furniture in your house. Unless you take a good look at them, you never notice how unique and special they are. Sometimes we need to stop looking at the faults of our friends and family and open our eyes to see the special qualities that we overlook on an everyday basis.

"Behold, How Good And How Pleasant It Is For Brethren To Dwell Together In Unity."

That's a good point. It's frightening to be sitting next to a sibling on the couch and realize that after X amount of years, you really don't know who they are.

Frightening and SAD!...I'm glad that my siblings and I are close. :)Brothers and sisters are such blessings - ones that we can count as trials if we're not careful. :o
